We are now recruiting for two Vehicle Maintenance Apprentice Technicians to join our Vehicle Maintenance Unit (VMU) team based at our Southern Distribution Centre in Amesbury, Wiltshire*.
The unit is Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency equipped, and operates a Tachograph bay with six fully equipped working bays which enables the maintenance and servicing of our modern fleet of vehicles and trailers.
With Company funded training, the Vehicle Maintenance Apprentice Technician will fulfil a practical role within the VMU helping to maintain and repair the Company’s commercial fleet ensuring legal compliance and safe and fit for use.
Day-to-day duties include a range of activities under supervision relating to fleet maintenance and repair.
The apprentice will complete a 3 year apprenticeship before being appointed VMU Technican.
The Level 3 apprenticeship standard, Heavy Vehicle Service and Maintenance Technician, requires the Vehicle Maintenance Apprentice Technician to attend Stephenson College in Coalville for 5 blocks of 2 weeks' training per year from September 2021.
During each 2 week training block the Vehicle Maintenance Apprentice Technician will return home for the weekend.

Over the period of training the Vehicle Maintenance Apprentice Technician's responsibilities will increase proportionally in line with their training progress and ability.
*The apprenticeship requires regular overnight stays away from home when attending Stephenson College, during which time travel, meals and accommodation will be provided.
