Home Bargains is one of the UK's fastest growing and most exciting retailers with the opportunity for an experienced health and safety professional to join us as Logistics Health and Safety Manager at our Distribution Centre in Amesbury, Wiltshire.

The Logistics Health and Safety Manager is responsible for advising the DC on health and safety management for both Warehouse and Transport functions.

The role involves the review and development of preventative measures in order to minimise occupational health issues and risk of accidents and injuries and drive improvements in safety, working collaboratively at all levels.

Role Responsibility

  • Ensure health and safety management is effective, complied with and meets statutory obligations in all areas of health, safety and welfare at work
  • Support and review risk assessments
  • Ensure the system for accident reporting and investigation is appropriate and next steps are identified and fulfilled
  • Coordinate the development of health and safety policies, safe systems of work and procedures
  • Ensure statutory requirements relating to health and safety training are met
  • Respond to and deal with enforcement authority enquiries
  • Manage health and safety committee meetings
  • Resolve health and safety issues relating to civil claims, liaising with operational managers, insurance companies and legal representatives
  • Generate and deliver reports

The Ideal Candidate

  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent
  • Member of IOSH (desirable but not essential)
  • Significant health and safety management experience (preferably in logistics)
  • Experience of automated storage and retrieval systems is advantageous 
  • Demonstrable record of performance, productivity and service delivery
  • In-depth and working knowledge and understanding of all applicable legislation and relevant industry standards
