HR Wellbeing Advisor

Job Introduction

The Wellbeing Team sits within the Human Resources Department and is responsible for providing sound advice and guidance aimed at enhancing employee engagement and productivity levels as well reducing sickness absence. This advice is available across the business to management and staff based in our two Distribution Centres (Warehouse and Transport), stores nationwide as well as Head Office functions.

The work of the Wellbeing Team covers absence management, in-work support and a range of family friendly procedures. Advice is predominantly provided by telephone and can also be face to face or by email. An excellent knowledge of absence management is essential; an awareness of employee relations casework (e.g. discipline, grievance, performance management) is also desirable.

Role Responsibility

  • Demonstrate effective skills in undertaking case management with a sound knowledge and experience in the application of employment legislation
  • Proven ability to communicate sound and commercially tailored advice and knowledge to a wide range of staff who may have varying skills and/or experience of wellbeing matters
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with senior and local management
  • Develop and deliver training to managers on a range of Wellbeing initiatives
  • Ability to co-ordinate a busy workload and have an organised and methodical approach
  • Adhere to GDPR data protection regulations and have a thorough understanding of confidentiality in relation to sensitive personal information relating to sickness or medical conditions
  • Keep accurate and confidential records in accordance with HR Team protocols
  • Promote and embrace diversity and equality in accordance with legislative requirements and Company policy/practice
  • Positively contribute to the continuous improvement of HR systems, practices and policy development
  • Versatile, willing to learn and committed to own continuous professional development

The Ideal Candidate

  • CIPD qualification to Level 5, preferably Level 7 or significant Human Resources Advisor level experience
  • Commercial acumen to appreciate the needs of a fast paced and growing business
  • Excellent listening/verbal and written communication skills to provide specific and timely advice
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with staff at all levels
  • Proven ability to work both independently and as part of a team, making a positive contribution to the Wellbeing Team strategy and objectives
  • Fluent IT skills (MS Office) together with experience of HRIS including accessing, inputting, compiling and reporting
  • Understanding that communication is imperative to other departments regarding calls, deadlines, tasks
  • The post holder may be required to travel occasionally to attend meetings or training events as required
