This comprehensive 24-month journey is designed to equip you with the skills, knowledge, and qualifications needed to thrive in the HR field. You will follow the Level 5 People Professional apprenticeship culminating in a Level 5 CIPD qualification, recognised across the field of HR and people management. 

Gain invaluable insights by working across our dynamic People Team, including Employee Relations, HR Shared Services, Resourcing, Reward, Benefits and Recognition. Development will include a combination of on-the-job training, workshops, and projects that will challenge and develop your HR expertise.

You will have an experienced People Function Manager as your mentor and will work alongside members of the People Team to support our colleagues across our national network of retail stores, Logistics and Head Office functions.

Role Responsibility

  • Develop on-the-job, working and learning alongside an experienced People Team, playing an active part in the employee life-cycle
  • Complete administrative duties supporting the People Function and gain comprehensive HR experience and a well-rounded understanding of the business
  • Learn how to use and analyse people data to support decision-making, understanding the impact of People related initiatives on business performance
  • Participate in the development, review and implementation of HR policies, gaining an insight into how People strategies align with organisational goals and compliance requirements
  • Work in partnership with management advising and coaching on case work
  • Assist in the identification and development of talent within the organisation and externally
  • Work on initiatives aimed at enhancing employee engagement, retention, and well-being, understanding the critical role these factors play in the success of the organisation
  • Support the with the development and implementation of pay, benefits and recognition strategies through the collection of data and organisation of data and administration of core benefits 

The Ideal Candidate

Essential

  • At least 18 years of age
  • Level 2 Functional Skills in English, Maths and ICT or GCSE grade C or equivalent. In the absence of such qualification an initial functional skills assessment will be completed prior to apprenticeship enrolment in order to assess skill level. Functional skills learning will then be planned into the apprenticeship programme 
  • Must have lived in England for at least 3 years 
  • Cannot have previously achieved a qualification in HR at degree level
  • Experience in retail or an administrative function is advantageous but not essential 
  • Experience of working in a team

Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent listening, verbal and written communication skills
  • Competent user of MS Office including Word and Excel
  • Ability to work within tight and conflicting timeframes
  • Ability to multitask
  • Ability to work at pace and achieve deadlines

Package Description

Please note interviews will be on Wednesday 8th May

  • Upto £26,000 DOE
  • Office-based in Liverpool Head Office, with the occasional requirement to visit stores
  • 5.6 weeks paid holiday per year including bank and public holiday allowance rising to 6.6 weeks upon 5 years' service
